   During a well drilling registration of drilling parameters is required for process analysis and improvement in the future but also for securing facilities and personnel operating in site. The monitorized and recorded parameters and a brief description of the sensors used is what follows.

Drilling fluid temperature

Purpose: monitors the temperature of drilling fluid into and out of the circulation system.

Operating principle: Temperature variation of a platinum resistance of 100 ohm.
Signal processing: The temperature is recorded as an average of 1000 readings made in a second and displayed on monitors.
Sensor technical specifications:

Kelly position (ROP) sus

ROPPurpose: Measuring kelly position and is used to calculate parameters: speed advancement, depth, bit depth, marches duration.

Operating principle: 2 proximity sensors that perceive in opposite phase the rotation of drawworks drum (sin-cos transducer with proximity sensors)
Signal processing: Value of this parameter is updated at every millisecond and used in the calculation of addicted parameters.
RopSensor technical specifications:

Rotary table speed sus

Purpose: It uses a proximity sensor that will register “intermediary” rotation on the Rotary table or cardanic axis.

Operating principle: The proximity sensor placed on the rig floor generates a sequence of pulses depending on the speed of rotation of the Rotary table.
Signal processing: Rotary speed are recorded and displayed on monitors.
RPMSensor technical specifications:

Pump strokes sus

Purpose: Monitoring the movement of a piston pump accurately provides a simple way of counting and calculation of the strokes . The number of strokes is determined by a proximity sensor activated by the pump piston. Knowing the volume of fluid pumped in a full race of piston pump may measure the flow of drilling fluid at the entrance of the circulation system.

Operating principle: The proximity sensor placed in the right of a piston generates a sequence of pulses depending on the speed of a moving piston.
Signal processing: Pump stokes are recorded and displayed on monitors.

Pit level sus

Senzor sonic pe  habePurpose: The sensor is used to monitor the amount of drilling fluid in mud pits.

Operating principle: Determine the distance to the level of liquid from mud pit by measuring the time required for an ultrasonic pulse to travel the distance sensor (transducer), liquid surface (reflector) and back to the sensor (receiver). It makes temperature and turbulence corrections.
Signal processing: The pit level of the mud fluid is recorded and displayed on monitors.

Standpipe pressure sus

Senzor presiunePurpose: Measures the pressure of drilling fluid pumped.

Operating principle: High stability and accuracy transmitter converts static and dynamic pressure in the electrical signal.
Sensor technical specifications:

Hook load sus

Purpose: Determine the load of rig crane hook and the weight on bit.

Operating principle: The sensor measures the pressure from MARTIN-DECKER deadline anchor proportional to force existing in the drilling cable of the rig installation.

Conductivity sus

Panou controlPurpose: The system consists of inductive conductivity sensor and transmitter. It give information about the concentration of dissolved salts in drilling mud and report promptly the gas influx, sweet or salty water.

Operating principle: An inductive coupling of two toroidal coil placed in an conductive environment will cause a generated current in the secondary coil much higher if the medium is more conductive.

Torque sus

Purpose: Torque is determined electrically, at rig installations with Rotary table, using a sensor LEM or hydraulic. If installattion is Top Drive then torque is determined with a 700 bar pressure sensor.
Specifications: for LEM sensor

Operating principle: With a Hall sensor, the Rotary table current is measured. With calculations of electric engine power and RPM can estimate torque.

Hydrogen sulphide sus

Senzor hidrogen sulfuratPurpose: Very accurately detect changes in concentration of hydrogen sulphide (a fatal gas in certain strengths).

Operating principle: electrochemical cell.
